Longhorn Pride

Planned gift will support student-athletes on the field and in life

Jane and Tony Rose

Jane (B.A. '84) and Tony Rose (B.A. '88, M.P.A. '90) made a future gift to support UT Athletics.

UT alumni Jane (B.A. '84) and Tony Rose (B.A. '88, M.P.A. '90) are deeply devoted to their beloved Longhorns. For more than four decades, they have attended Texas Athletics events and are current season ticketholders for UT football, volleyball, men's and women's basketball, and baseball. Joyfully retired, they fill their days with Longhorn sports, organizing road trips around game schedules and visiting national parks, historical sites, museums, cities and small towns along the way.

UT sports have brought so much enjoyment to their lives that the Roses have utilized planned giving opportunities to establish future support for student-athletes through undergraduate and graduate scholarships and professional development. "We hope to give student-athletes an experience at UT that kickstarts the rest of their lives, much as the University did for us," says Jane. "Our gift will help student-athletes make the best use of their time in the classroom and on the field so they can achieve their goals."

"While we were UT students, we developed important life skills and independence," adds Tony. "We learned a great deal about ourselves and how to work effectively with others, and we want to support similar experiences in student-athletes."

Taking Pride in Traditions

The Roses are grateful for their UT education. Although they attended UT at different times, they were both members of the Longhorn Singers and met through mutual friends. Being part of the show choir community strengthened their sense of campus tradition and pride and helped them create lifelong friendships. Some of their favorite memories were participating in shows and fundraising for traveling performances.

Jane and Tony will always enjoy the game-day experience and admire Texas Athletics' commitment to excellence across all sports.

"College sports are the greatest reality shows because they are unpredictable. We never know how the game will end, and we love being there for special moments when they happen," says Tony.
